My New Hair!

I have been wanting to do something different with my hair for a couple years now but I was always too scared to take those extra steps needed to make it look like I really wanted it to. This Christmas break I finally decided to just go for it. I chopped a decent amount off and even colored it. I went for a balayage with caramel highlights. Balayage is a more natural looking way of coloring your hair (not involving the roots) and an awesome way to start off without trying anything too drastic. There is minimal maintenance, only having to get it touched up every 6 months to a year. I am in love with how it turned out and so happy I did it. The whole process took around 3 hours! This is how it turned out:

Winter Beauty Favorites

The winter time is never very kind to us. Our hair gets dry and frizzy, our skin looks dull, and we overall appear more blah. These different products have helped me achieve that bright, dewy, and awake look that everyone strives to have in these freezing and unbearable temperatures. Most of these products came from my Winter FabFitFun Box! Use my link for $15 off your first box!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with aloe, herbs and rosewater: Is this an essential product to have? No, absolutely not. But I believe it has made a huge difference in the hydration of my skin. I use this mist typically after I complete my every day skincare routine (updated routine coming soon) of cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. It is a multi use product able to set your makeup, soothe dry and irritated skin, or just give your skin a boost. I have the travel size shown below, but the full size is only $7! (travel size $5, full $7)

Mineral Peel Face: Yes, you read that rightย peel face. This is a non-abrasive natural exfoliant with brightening agents to leave your skin free of the dull, dry, and dead skin. You spray it on your face, allow it to sink in for a few seconds, and then rub into your skin using either your hands or a wet washcloth. It has tiny little beads that allow your skin to feel baby butt soft after using. The spray bottle applicator is way easier to use than a typical goopy sticky exfoliant out of a jar or tube. ($44)

Benefit Cosmetics It’s Potent! Eye Cream: You are never too young to start using an eye cream. This specific eye cream is a brightening cream to help fade dark circles under your eyes. I have seen a difference in my under eyes and feel as if I look more awake during the day. ($34)

Anderson Lilley Beach Butter Body Cream: I am all about the lotions, creams, and body butters in the colder months. Especially ones that smell as yummy as this one. I have the scent Sicilian Tangerine and boy oh boy does it smell delicious. The fragrance notes include tangerine, mandarin, peach, bergamot, lily, jasmine, mango, black currant, musk, and vanilla. You can apply this anywhere that needs a little extra TLC. It is especially great to put on right before bed on the soles of your feet with fuzzy socks to seal in the moisture all through the night and wake up with soft and hydrated footsies. ($24)

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance: This primer creates a smooth canvas for your makeup helping fill in any textural differences. While evening out your skin it also manages to brighten and illuminate your skin. ($36)

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream: My skin has not been doing me any favors this winter and this cc cream has made all the difference. It is not as heavy as a foundation but is totally buildable and color corrects beautifully just as the cc in the name stands for. It truly is my skin but better. It evens out my complexion getting rid of any redness or hyper pigmentation while also protecting my face with SPF 50+. ($38)

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed: This is a 12-hour matte blush that is absolutely stunning. This nude and pinky toned blush leaves just the right amount of natural looking color on your cheeks to brighten them up. ($28)

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Opal: I have talked about this product before and if you are looking for a highlighter this is the one to get. This golden opal pearly toned highlight leaves your skin looking radiant as it reflects off the snow. Apply a setting spray before your highlight for a more dewy and glowing from within type of look. ($38)

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara: This is one of my ride or die mascaras. This is one of the most natural looking mascaras I have found. It separates and lengthens my lashes with minimal to no clumping while coating them with an extra dark black to make them pop. ($30)

Essie Gel Top Coat: This is my new favorite nail product. I stumbled upon this polish and thought it was worth a try. You can wear regular nail polish underneath it but the gel in the top coat makes the color last way longer with no chipping! ($11.50)

2017 Goals

As the first official week of 2017 comes to a close, I have written out some of my personal goals for this year. For this year’s list of resolutions I tried to stick to “big picture” ideas instead of smaller things like not eating any junkfood, because that’s just not realistic. I want to make a practical and beneficial path for me to follow going forward. This is what I have come up with:

  • read books that remind me why I love to read
  • live a healthier lifestyle – physically & mentally
  • produce blog content I am proud of & become more consistent with my posts
  • drink more water to hydrate my body
  • be present in my day to day life & not worry so much about the past or future
  • keep my space clean, therefore my mind
  • take risks & push myself
  • explore new places in the city
  • cut the complaining & make less excuses
  • spend my money wisely & save
  • take advantage of the time I do have
  • take more pictures
  • try new foods
  • make new friends
  • pray often & make time for God
  • trust in the process
